Awhina Rutene is not having a great time on MAFS Australia right now. Her husband Adrian keeps being vague about whether he wants to date someone with a child, and now he’s sneakily rubbing Sierah’s foot under the table? Here’s a look at all the vibey and wholesome things Awhina gets up to outside of the MAFS Australia experiment.
Awhina has a twin sister
Awhina and Adrian were extremely excited to discover on their wedding day that they both have a twin. Although, this does seem to be the only thing they have in common. Awhina considers her sister Cleo her “best friend”. Nawww.

She’s an aged care worker
Awhina lives in Western Australia, near Perth. She helps elderly people perform daily tasks. The name “Awhina” actually means “helper” or “supporter” in Māori language.
Awhina is a super proud parent (aw)
She was in a 15 year long relationship with her boyfriend from high school. She has a six-year-old son with this ex. Awhina is a super proud parent – her Instagram feed is full of adorable pics of her son on wholesome days out to the zoo and trips with her friends and their kids.
She is secretly really good at art?!
I did not know this about her at all. She hand-painted a girlycore beer pong table and it’s honestly a masterpiece. When she renovated her home, she decorated with wood panelling, upcycled chairs and artworkds of the female form – all of which she made herself.
During lockdown, she set up an amazing playground and Wendy house in her garden for her son.
