‘Not a nice human’: Teachers, students and parents share horrid experiences with MAFS’ Tim

He allegedly called one student a ‘pencil case licker’

MAFS Australia has been plagued by a few toxic grooms, but throughout the earliest episodes of season 12, former teacher Tim Gromie ultimately took the crown as the most controversial husband.

He never gave his relationship with Katie Johnston a real shot, spent most of the dinner party dodging questions about his relationship, and then proceeded to turn it all back on his wife. Soon enough, former girlfriends came out with their own experiences as some even accused him of catfishing with old pictures.

Now, speaking to Megan Pustetto on her So Dramatic podcast, teachers, former students, and even parents have spoken out.

Students spoke to the podcast about Tim as a teacher

In episode 458 of the So Dramatic podcast, Megan and her team spoke to several teachers, students, and even a “mentor” of Tim’s about his past behaviour while working as a teacher.

Commenting on one of Megan’s TikToks, one of Tim’s former students said “He’s my PE teacher” before revealing that he constantly cracked dad jokes.

A second student also got in touch with the podcast and claimed: “He was my grade three teacher and left after a year since his contract wasn’t renewed because of multiple complaints about his teaching from parents, so I guess he’s been fired at least twice.”

Another source told the podcast host that Tim was “only a PE teacher because he left his last school in a hurry” after complaints from parents. He allegedly “bullied” the source’s 7-year-old niece and another parent backed those claims.

Yet another source also came forward with alleged complaints, claiming Tim made inappropriate nicknames about students such as “pencil case licker.”

Even parents were ‘bullied’ by MAFS’ Tim Gromie

Even more sources told the So Dramatic podcast that Tim had a habit of bullying the parents of his students.

“I don’t have huge updates since the show, I do know he’s been fired from our school, and he’s not here for this year that’s for sure,” another parent said. “I’m a parent at the school Mr Andrews was teaching at before MAFS. He was my two boys’ sports teacher last year and he wasn’t a good teacher.”

The parent said Tim was “always nice” to them but their husband had suggested that was because she’s a “petite blonde” and his type.

“Our principal did warn him last year that if he went on the show he might not have a job to come back to due to what drama it usually causes,” they added. “He’s not on our specialist teachers list for this year.”

Colleagues and fellow teachers have also spoken out

Later in the podcast, Megan revealed statements from former colleagues of Tim and they were not positive.

“So my friend used to work with Tim,” the source said, revealing that said friend branded him an “absolute d**khead” who is “up himself, arrogant, and rude.”

“He is not a nice human and it’s definitely not the edit,” they reportedly added.

Someone who claimed to be a “mentor” of Tim’s also wrote in with their own story, telling So Dramatic that his behaviour was “disgusting” and “Tim plays the victim every time.”

“He hated having a female giving him guidance,” they said. “He formed a very close friendship with a teacher who was a small petite blonde. She recently got married and he stormed out of the wedding because he wasn’t happy with the seating arrangement.”

Tim, Nine, and Channel 4 have all been approached for comment.
