Love Is Blind hosts Nick and Vanessa have ‘scheduled s*x day’ and are in couples’ therapy

‘We still have problems’

We see Nick and Vanessa Lachey host Love Is Blind and help others find love all the time, but they’ve now opened up about what their marriage is *really* like. In a recent interview, they’ve honestly said their relationship isn’t perfect, despite appearing like it may be on the Netflix show.

Whilst hosting Love Is Blind, Nick and Vanessa Lachey love to go on about how they also met through a dating show. They met on MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) in 2003. Vanessa was a host on the show, and Nick was a guest promoting his music. From then on, they’ve remained super gushy about how in love and seemingly perfect their life is.

Speaking to BRIDES for The Modern Wedding Issue, Nick and Vanessa Lachey have opened up about what their marriage is really like. Vanessa said they have a designated sex day, and are in couples’ therapy. However, they said all of this is healthy, and it’s good for couples to always be looking at how to improve.

‘We decided Wednesday – hump day’

Vanessa said it was her who proposed the scheduled sex day, and how they now joke it’s “hump day”. She said: “He’s [Nick] like, ‘What, schedule a sex day?’. It sounds weird when you say that, so we decided – Wednesday, hump day.

“I don’t want the time that we have for intimacy and connection to be taken over by logistics, but that’s our life. I think we’re coming into an age of having to have a hump day and a logistics day.” Nick added: “Happy hump day and calendar dump day.”

Vanessa also spoke about them seeing a marriage therapist. “It’s nice for them to see that, yes, we’ve been together 19 years, married for 13, and we are seeing a therapist, and we still have problems,” she said. “It’s really important to have a third-person perspective that’s an unbiased opinion.”

Nick added: “Anything that’s worth having takes work. To me, that’s a cornerstone of life, and marriage is no different. There’s no shame in that. There’s no perfect person, there’s just your person.”

They also said hosting Love Is Blind has been a huge benefit for their relationship. “It’s always been somewhat therapeutic for us to be a part of this and take a look at our own marriage and our own relationship as we go through each season,” Nick said.
