Here’s what you should watch next after Netflix’s American Murder: Gabby Petito

Looking for your next dose of true crime? Then look no further

Netflix’s last American Murder season focused on Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old van life blogger who was killed by her fiancé.

Gabby was murdered in rural Wyoming, and it took weeks to find her, with her fiancé refusing to cooperate with police. Her killer, Brian Laudrie, later died by suicide, leaving a note which confessed to his crime.

This particular case went global, with Gabby soon becoming a household name, therefore it’s no surprise a documentary was made by Netflix about her murder.

However, if you’ve seen this documentary and are interested in watching more true crime series, then this guide will direct you to the best ones available right now.

American Murder: The Family Next Door

via Netflix

This season is ideal to watch next if you’ve just finished the Gabby Petito doc as it belongs to the same series.

The first of the American Murder seasons on Netflix follows Shanann Watts and her children.

The footage used in this documentary is all from those involved in the case, including police footage and videos filmed by Shanann herself.

This case rocked the world, and left people questioning if they truly know their loved ones.

Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke

via YouTube

Currently second in the Disney Plus charts, and the only Disney Plus show on this list, this three part series covers Ruby Franke’s abuse of her children.

Ruby Franke was a family vlogger who frequently posted videos of her seemingly perfect family on YouTube. However, after becoming obsessed with creating content and purging sin, things soon took a dark turn.

The documentary includes hearing from some of the children affected by Ruby’s crimes, as well as her husband.

American Murder: Laci Peterson

via Netflix

The second of Netflix’s American Murder seasons focuses on Laci Peterson, a pregnant woman who went missing and was later found to be murdered.

From the get go, her husband Scott was seen as a potential suspect, with his demeanour quickly raising eyebrows.

His family said he was innocent, but was he?

Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter

via Netflix

A Netflix original, this limited series follows a woman, Cathy, in search of the child she gave up for adoption.

Upon searching for her daughter Aundria, she later comes to realise she’s gone missing.

Cathy is taken down a rabbit hole of leads and conspiracies, but what actually happened to Aundria? And where is she?

Don’t F**k with Cats

The final recommendation of what to watch next if you’ve just finished Netflix’s Gabby Petito documentary is Don’t F**k With Cats.

This documentary is probably one of the best I have ever watched. As a true crime fan, I have explored many series focusing on real life incidences of crime but none have left me as shocked as this.

A limited series on Netflix, Don’t F**k with Cats is a whirlwind. It starts with a man being seen to abuse a cat online, something that gains the attention of a number of Facebook users.

These users then form a group to find out who hurt the cat and bring him to justice. Through doing this, they find out the man involved may be much more sinister then they’re led to believe, but can the armchair detectives track down this man before it’s too late?

You’ll have to watch to find out.
