Family of Luis Piovesana ‘devastated’ after body is found during river search

Police confirmed a body was found during a search dive in the River Frome, Eastville

Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed a body has been found during the search for Luis Piovesana.

The 26-year-old Bristol man went missing in the early hours of Friday morning, with his last sighting at Eastgate Retail Park.

A huge search began with over 100 people, including police officers, staff, and volunteers, desperately trying to find Luis over the weekend.

ASPolice posted on X last night (Monday 3rd March) at 9pm, revealing a body had been found.

The police said: “At around 6pm today (Monday 3 March), the police dive team was searching the River Frome in the Napier Road area of Eastville, Bristol, when they located a body.”

“Detectives have met with Luis’ family and updated them. Our thoughts remain with them at this time.”

On Thursday night, Luis had attended the Jam Jar in St Jude’s and got in a taxi to leave the venue.

He then got out of the taxi. He attempted to call 999, but this call was disconnected, and police could not reach his number again.

Police sent out four cars to the M32, however, no one was seen.

His sister, Lubjana Piovesana, has spoken out on Instagram following the heartbreaking news. She said: “Luis has been found. We are completely devastated, but he has passed away.”

His mother added, “I am grateful for everyone’s support. I am so sorry this has happened.

“Luis was my little brother and loved by everyone. I wish he could have seen the love from everyone.

“He will be remembered by us all.”
