The Traitors icon Meryl speaks out after getting wrapped up in messy MAFS UK drama

The legendary Meryl Williams, The Traitors UK season one winner and general all round icon, is generally someone completely unproblematic and never wrapped up in anything messy. But she has found herself at the centre of some messy drama which sees Meryl and Erica Roberts from MAFS UK in a saga with 2024 bride Sacha. After the entire week long fiasco following the MAFS UK reunion which aired last Monday – Sacha fumed at a comment made by Erica that was laughed at by The Traitors’ Meryl on the podcast and now Meryl has spoken out about the drama.

For context, Erica and Sacha clashed on the show and off camera because Erica said Sacha’s ex Ross had been in the DMs. When Erica posted a podcast episode from the show she runs with The Traitors legend Meryl, the two debriefed the show and Erica referred to how since MAFS UK Sacha has found God since leaving the show. Erica referred to it as “God and stuff”, which Meryl repeated and laughed.

Now, Meryl has found herself in her first drama since The Traitors and has spoken out about the MAFS drama with Erica via a video with Erica on her TikTok account.

Erica starts explaining “I didn’t wanna address this and speak anymore on this but the fact that now for the past four days I haven’t been able to go on my phone or any social apps because I’m being flooded with hate, abuse, everything – I just feel like something needs to be said.

“First of all we just want to address about the podcast, because clearly this has all blown up that we were mocking or laughing at religion.”

Meryl interjects saying “I believe in god, guys. My gran’s at church right now because it’s a Sunday. My whole family are religious. I would never mock religion. And especially coming from someone with a difference I would never mock someone else. I also just think it’s gone too far.”

Erica continues: “We can see from the podcast it does look as if I’ve said ‘God and stuff’ and Meryl’s gone ‘oh yeah, God and stuff’ but Meryl was repeating what I said and laughed at my WORDING. My choice of words of ‘God and stuff’. We were not laughing that she supports God and is a Christian.’

Meryl states again “I believe in God so why would I laugh about that!”

Erica goes on to say “The fact people have jumped on this and believe we would – surely we’d have said something more, like come on.”

Meryl says “I think a lot of people that preach, and if you know about Christianity you know, it’s not this.”
