Trebs, Digi and Prosecco pres: Sophie Habboo reminisces on her ‘wild’ Newcastle uni days
From questionable pres to her favourite toon takeaway, nothing about this will shock you…
In her podcast, Wednesdays, which she co-hosts with Melissa Tattum, Sophie Habboo spoke about her time as a student in Newcastle where her and her pals would pre on prosecco (she is the ultimate rah, after all) before heading to Digital.
In episode 68 of the podcast, the two former Made In Chelsea stars reminisced on where they were 10 years ago, in honour of the first episode of 2025. For Sophie, 2015 was one of the three years she spent at Newcastle University completing a degree in media, communications and cultural studies.
Running us through a typical night out in 2015, Sophie confessed to driving her car (probably a Fiat 500, let’s be honest) around the corner to Jesmond Waitrose to pick up a bottle of Prosecco for pres.
She said: “Prosecco was my drink of choice. We would all get a Prosecco each as our pre drink. We would drink that warm out of plastic cups. We would probably take it to the boys’ house. Then we would go to a treble bar.”

Her mixer of choice for her trebs was lime cordial to mask the “vile” vodka. Clearly paint stripper trebs are a tale as old as time. Any Newcastle student with taste buds would agree with Sophie who doesn’t “believe that anyone actually thinks vodka soda is nice.”
Sophie even admitted to a regular tactical chunder after arriving at the club. Unfortunately, it’s a canon event after downing three trebs. Speaking to Melissa about her antics she said: “We would vomit in the night and then carry on dancing. I would be like ‘I need to go chunder’ and then I was ready for round two.”
Her favourite club night? Digital. (Yes, you read that right.) She said: “It was a rave night. They were my nights. They were the nights I would drink beers all night. Its quenching.”
Who knew Sophie drank beer? And who knew anyone actually liked Digital?
Discussing post-night out takeaways, she was partial to a Subway, or a legendary La Maschera.
“In first year we would go to Subway outside Tup Tup or La Maschera and we would get pizza and it was so sloppy. We would be on the floor all eating pizzas together. It’s so rough.
“Then third year came and it was a bit more civilised-ish. It was more house parties. More fun. It’s actually just really fun times I do look back on it and think what a life.”
Sophie’s 2015 university fashion was exactly what you would expect. Bomber jackets, skinny jeans and Nikes. She said: “I thought I was edgy.”
We listen and we don’t judge.
If Sophie could give her student self any advice, it would be this: “It gets better… it was so fun and I loved life but I think it gets better. You get to know yourself better. Enjoy it more because it goes really quickly. There’s no way I can go to Waitrose in my pyjamas on a hangover… life is very different now.”
Take notes guys.
