Inside the rollercoaster life of Kim Halsey, the x-rated icon dubbed the ‘original’ Lily Phillips

Lily Phillips’ intentionally divisive marketing tactics have taken over just about every social media platform available, but long before the invention of OnlyFans in 2016, Kim Halsey was the original record breaker to find fame.

Though Lily’s been on OnlyFans for a few years now, her fame skyrocketed in November when she detailed her 100 men in a day stunt to YouTuber Josh Pieters. Now, people are drawing comparisons between Lily Phillips and the admittedly tragic story of Kim Halsey.

Kim – best known under her stage name Houston – is being widely referred to as the “original Lily Phillips” for one solitary reason: She too looked to break records in the world of adult entertainment.

‘Original Lily Phillips’ Kim Halsey slept with 620 men

Back in 1999, Kim Halsey set out to top Jasmin St. Claire’s earlier record of 300 men in a single session. Though Lisa Sparks broke a similar record in the 90s at the Third Annual World Gangbang Championship, Kim’s moment came in the starring role of World’s Biggest Gang Bang III.

She ultimately doubled the record in a move that catapulted her career to new levels, and soon enough, she was hosting TV and radio shows, signing record deals, touring the world, and dating celebrities.

But beneath the glamorous exterior and overwhelming success laid a history of abuse, drug addiction, and financial issues, most of which she detailed in her 2012 memoir Pretty Enough: The Story of the Gang Bang Queen. In the book, she recalled how her big break was only made possible after agreeing to perform degrading sex acts on a producer.

“When I agreed to do it, he did everything he could to degrade me as much as possible,” she said, further saying that the producer made her feel like a “piece of sh*t.”

Kim Halsey later got a tattoo of a cherub as a way of “asking God to forgive me for what I was about to do” before arriving on the set to find the 600-plus men waiting. These allegedly included a “speed freak in full-blown psychosis” and a man who had entered his mother into adult films to pay off gambling debts.

She ultimately continued until the point of exhaustion, explaining: “Something was collapsing inside me, physically and emotionally. I felt as if somebody had aimed a flamethrower at my crotch. I retreated backstage and applied ice to my swollen and battered vagina, fighting back tears.”

The years that followed were hard for her

The event itself was followed by mozzarella sticks at TGI Friday’s with the crew before recovering at a two-week vacation in Mexico. After returning to her usual brand of work; touring strip clubs and exploring new ventures sparked by the starring role, Kim spent her newfound millions.

Unfortunately, this story does not end here.

“I had more than enough to pay for the cost of raising my daughter,” she wrote in her memoir. “I bought a house in Granada Hills and several cars. I’m not sure where the rest of the excess cash went, but I’d guess a fair amount went to drug dealers, liquor stores, clothing designers, home remodelers, and plastic surgeons.”

Just a few years later, being a “functional addict” stopped functioning and Kim’s addiction to cocaine, crystal meth, and plastic surgery was threatening more than just her bank account.

“One day I realized that I was going to die soon if I didn’t change anything,” she recalled.

She turned to religion for help

Even after moving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Kim battled demons and struggled to take care of her daughter. At her lowest point, she told God “I don’t want to be Houston any more” and managed to go cold turkey, spurring her decision to enrol in real estate school.

Still, tragedy followed as Kim found herself jobless when her real estate bosses discovered her past, and to make matters worse, she was diagnosed with stage three cancer just a week later. Other people largely funded the treatment, and she had fifteen lymph nodes removed in a life-saving surgery that reportedly had a 20 per cent survival prediction.

Though the only similarity between Kim Halsy and Lily Phillips seems to be their desire to break records in the adult entertainment space, it does go to show that there is always another performer looking to break a record that you broke yourself for.
