Tributes pour in for ‘beautiful and brilliant’ King’s College student who died in her sleep just before Christmas

‘Hannah was beautiful inside and out’

Tributes have poured in for the “beautiful and brilliant” King’s College London student who died just before Christmas.

Hannah Atack, 20, died in her sleep on Saturday 14th December 2024 unexpectedly.

Hannah was in her final year studying law and was planning on doing a masters in American history – as she wanted to pursue a career in politics. However, Hannah was also an aspiring actor and model, and this was her true ambition in life.

She has been said to have worked really hard this academic year and was “incredibly bright.”

On the 15th December, her friend, Charlotte, writes how Hannah’s death was “unexpected” and “taken from us far too soon.”

Comments came by peers who shared their sympathy for Charlotte and Hannah’s family.

One wrote: “This is such a shock…I’ve known Hannah since second year of uni, and she is one of the sweetest friends I have ever had. My deepest condolences.”

Another said: “She seemed like a good person. I am sorry for her loss and my condolences go towards her family and friends. No one deserves to pass away so young.”

Many other comments included of the red love heart emoji and “sending love and prayers.”

The King’s Tab spoke to Charlotte, Hannah’s best friend and flatmate, and asked her to share her memories of their friendship and how she plans to honour her life moving forward.

Charlotte and Hannah together

Charlotte said: “I met Hannah at a KCL waterpolo match we were both watching and we clicked instantly, she was more like a sister than a friend.”

Charlotte then described how they moved in together almost a year after they met and: “It has been the best three months of my life.”

She said how they were also together constantly, and couldn’t stop talking about the other – even when they were apart. In some ways, it felt like they were “an old married couple.”

Describing Hannah’s character, Charlotte said how Hannah was “confident”, “funny” and “smart”, and how she almost felt that Hannah was her soulmate in friendship form.

When asked about how Charlotte plans to honour Hannah moving forward in her life, Charlotte said how she plans to speak at Hannah’s memorial, after being asked by Hannah’s parents to write a eulogy.

Further, Charlotte wants to wear the bracelet that Hannah gave her the night before she passed, which says: “You’re my person” – a reference to Grey’s Anatomy, a show they both loved together.

Charlotte wants to pursue her own acting career for both her and Hannah, wearing the bracelet so that she feels Hannah is there with her, and in a way, achieving her dream too.
