Actually Welsh Elen reveals if she’d rumbled Charlotte’s fake Welsh accent on The Traitors

All hail the stupidest lie ever!

One of the most instantly iconic but instantly absolutely ridiculous moments from The Traitors 2025 is the fact Charlotte decided to go in and play the game with a Welsh accent. For no reason, really. She said that it’s a trustworthy accent and that her mother is Welsh – and everyone has rinsed her for the fact that this adds literally nothing to the game and no one is going to be that arsed when she reveals the ‘bombshell’. However, in episode one we did see her having a little chat with Elen, the actually Welsh girl on The Traitors who has now shared after she got banished if she rumbled Charlotte and her random Welsh accent plot.

Plot twist: She didn’t suspect it

In some form of miraculous turn of events, Elen has said she actually had no clue about Charlotte and her Welsh plot on The Traitors. Probably because, why would anyone lie about something so daft? Charlotte, who’s literally born and raised in London, told contestants she was from Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, and moved to London as an adult.”I’ve been putting on a Welsh accent because my mum’s from Wales, it’s one of the most trustworthy accents,” Charlotte declared in the season premiere.

But banished faithful Elen said that she thought it was “ironic” that Charlotte said the accent was trustworthy when there had been previous traitors in both seasons that were Welsh, and both the real Welsh accent owner and the fake accent owner this year had both been in the target line during banishment.

Elen explained “both of us were targeted at the same time, so clearly it’s not as trustworthy” – real.

She also shared a bit about her short time on the show, which was cut short after a very emotional episode two banishment, and said how she taught a lot of people in the show about the Welsh language. Elen said Kasim really cared, saying “he could also tell I wasn’t as confident in there so he showed particular interest in the language as a way of trying to include me more because I was kind of isolating myself”.

She also confirmed she refuses to watch her banishment episode because she doesn’t want to relive it. Ouch.

The Traitors is back on tomorrow night on BBC One and iPlayer.
