A whole new city was built for Beast Games, so what was the total budget to make the show?
The city alone cost $14 million dollars to construct
The first two episodes of BeastGames were released on the 19th of December and from the fact there are 1,000 contestants to the cash prize being worth over $5 million, the budget for the show must have been a hefty one.
The amount of prize money has now been awarded the Guinness World Record for the largest single pot of prize money in television history, which was previously claimed by Squid Game: The Challenge’s prize of $4.56 million.
MrBeast revealed on his Instagram that the city that was built just for BeastGames cost over $14 million to construct, meaning the budget is already bigger than most other shows just from that.
The fake city, aptly named Beast City, serves as somewhere for the contestants to eat and sleep and is even complete with its own roundabouts and mini chalets.
And whilst the main prize is worth over $5 million, it seems MrBeast has given over $15 million in extra prizes throughout the course of the show to tempt the contestants.
One such example is a trial where a cast member can quit the show on the spot but get given $80,000, but as a consequence, the rest of their row will be eliminated too without a prize.
Beast Games has already been awarded two Guinness World Records which seem to indicate just how monstrous of a budget the show was given. One of them was for “most money given away in a first episode,” with another being for the “largest island given away in a show.”
And something tells me a whole island might have cost a fair amount to purchase.
