Former Manchester student and prolific rapist Reynhard Sinaga attacked in prison
Sinaga is serving life with minimum of 40 years after being convicted of 159 sex offences
Reynhard Sinaga, one of the UK’s “most prolific rapists”, has been attacked whilst in prison.
The former University of Manchester student was convicted for 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes of young men.
He has since been the target of an alleged planned attack in whilst in HMP Wakefield, The Sun reports.
In 2020, Sinaga was ruled to serve a minimum of 40 years in jail after being found guilty of luring 48 men from Manchester clubs, mainly in Gay Village, to his flat where he drugged and assaulted them and filmed the attacks.
Sinaga was caught after a victim woke up during an assault in 2017. Police then found thousands of hours of sexual assault clips on his phone, resulting in the largest and most prolific rape investigation.
He was convicted for 159 sex offences including 136 rapes of young men, and is serving life with a minimum of 40 years, raised from 30 at the Court of Appeal in December 2020.
Originally from Indonesia, Sinaga was said to have narrowly avoided injury in the attack in HMP Wakefield. He was allegedly seconds away from serious harm when prison guards intervened.
Jack McRae has been charged with attempted GBH with intent of Sinaga, and is charged with the same offence against child killer rapist Wilbert Dyce in HMP Wakefield in 2023.
He has since been moved to Frankland prison in Durham following the alleged assault.
Speaking after Reynhard Sinaga was attacked, a source told The Sun: “Sinaga is arrogant and universally loathed. He is a clear target in prison because of his depraved crimes.
“He was seconds away from extremely serious harm. He is in danger”
McRae is due before Leeds JPs on Tuesday.
