In a second, now-deleted video, Zoe updated fellow TikTokers with her current situation. She said: “Just tried to move into my new flat (because my uni are shutting down the one I live in), and they said I can’t have the keys until I sign the new contract, but I can’t sign the new contract until I have moved out of my current room.”
She then continued by saying: “But I can’t move out of my current room until I move all my stuff into my new room BUT I CAN’T MOVE INTO MY NEW ROOM.”
However, she explained in her caption that after calling the accommodation team, she managed to get the keys to her new flat.
According to the University of Hull, all students were sent an email letting them know that they could collect their new room keys when they were ready to and that their contracts would be amended when they had checked out of their old accommodation.
A spokesperson for the University of Hull also said: “At the beginning of December we were in touch with a small number of students about the need for them to relocate from our Courtyard accommodation to Westfield Court.
“Relocation is sometimes necessary to allow us to carry out work that can’t be done when students are in residence, or to ensure we are operating our estate as efficiently as possible.
“We explained to the 26 students affected that we have a number of vacant rooms across campus, and that moving students to avoid having empty flats in accommodation blocks would help us maintain our commitment to both environmental and financial sustainability.
“Students were offered a like for like room at a reduced rate or an upgraded larger room for the same cost. All students have been allocated a room and are living within friendship groups where specified. Students were told that their keys would be available from reception when they were ready to move, that they would get help relocating their belongings, and that their contracts would be amended once the check out of their old room is confirmed.”
