A spa and an underground tunnel: Inside Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s mega bougie mansion
They have a ‘posh bar’ and a ‘common bar’?!
This weekend on I’m A Celeb, Coleen Rooney spilled the beans on the massive mansion she lives in with Wayne Rooney and their kids. She admitted she felt awkward talking about her house because she didn’t want to come across as braggy… but did say the house has “a few bars”, a football pitch and an underground tunnel to connect all the facilities. So humble.
The good news for nosey people is that Coleen and Wayne Rooeny’s mansion has featured in quite a few TV shows and YouTube videos, so we’ve got a pretty good idea of how bougie it is. Here’s an unnecessarily thorough deep dive into what Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s mansion is like inside.
Where actually is Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s mansion?
So, the house is actually called High Lake Manor. As the name suggests, it looks over a giant lake. Perhaps the “high” is referring to how massively big the house is? It’s surrounded by plenty of countryside, so the Rooneys don’t have to interact with us peasants.
The nearest town is Knutsford, which is about a 45-minute train ride south of Manchester. This bougie area of Cheshire is called the Golden Triangle. Lots of footballers who play for Manchester teams live around there.
Their house cost at least £20 million
It’s been reported that Wayne and Coleen bought the plot of land for £4 million back in 2017. They spent at least £20 million building the house. Construction had to be paused in 2020 because of fairly obvious reasons. The family finally moved into their house in about 2022. Not gonna lie, it looks like it was worth the wait.

There are more facilities than a fancy hotel
Seriously. The house is surrounded by 40 acres of countryside. There’s a swimming pool, a home cinema, a home spa, an astro turf football pitch, and an underground tunnel for people to lazy to walk to the football pitch above ground (?).
The Rooneys have added two bars to the house. So they don’t have to look at each other while drinking if they don’t want to?
Coleen explained on I’m A Celeb that they have a “posh bar” next to the dining room, and a “common bar” which opens up onto the garden.
The building company’s website also says the house has an orangery. The house has two massive glass extensions round the back. The pool is in one of them, so that swimmers get a nice view of the football pitch.
The house is greyer than a millennial’s Pinterest board
Coleen shares lots of pics of her children to her Instagram. For those of us who care more about how fancy her mansion is than what her kids are up to (sorry), you can see quite a lot of her house in the background. Some of the Disney+ Wagatha Christie documentary was also filmed in their house.
The vibe is very much “fancy minimalist”. Literally everything is white or grey. Even their Christmas tree is exclusively various shades of silver. Now that’s commitment to a colour scheme.
The entrance hall has a cast iron staircase – which could have cost up to something like £100,000.
Personally, if I had £100,000 to spend on stairs, I’d want a bannister I can slide down. But each to their own.
The mansion has a special trophy room for all the memorabilia
Wayne Rooney’s various football knick-knacks (er, can you tell I don’t follow sport) are arranged in glass display cases in a special trophy room. Sure.
