The rogue reason I’m A Celeb campmates get told off for peeing in the bushes

Sam Thompson spilled all the secrets of the dunny

Going to the toilet on I’m A Celebrity sounds grimmer than a bushtucker trial. With the spiders, rough bench and bucket of celebrities’ poo, I think I’d rather skip the dreaded dunny and just wee in the bush. However, it turns out I’m A Celeb has a strict policy on peeing, and there’s a really surprising reason why.

Former I’m A Celebrity campmates Sam Thompson and Joel Dommett revealed the secrets of the dunny last night on I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked.

The question arose of whether the I’m A Celebrity campmates ever can’t be asked with the dunny, and just pee in a bush.

Joel Dommett said, “No, you’re not allowed. So, Larry once did that, in our year, because he’s quite old, so he got to a point where he was like, ‘I really need to go now.’ And then he got in trouble for it. He just went in the bush.”

Fyi, “Larry” refers to Larry Lamb, an actor from EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey who was on I’m A Celeb with Joel in 2016.

Apparently, the dunny is really hard to find in the dark. The I’m A Celeb campmates have to be super careful about peeing in the right place so they don’t get told off by ITV. Sam said, “It’s quite close by, to be fair. But it’s quite dark. A lot of people have gone the other way down to the creek before, and you hear them stomping back muttering to themselves at like 2 in the morning.”

Sam Thompson then revealed the really surprising reason why the I’m A Celebrity producers are so strict on where people wee. “Also, there’s a really rare blue lobster – a blue crayfish – in the creek. So, you’re not really allowed to do much around there.

“It’s beautiful. There’s two of them. Well, when I was there. They’ve probably mated by now.”

Last year in the jungle, Fred Sirieix spotted a blue crustacean swimming about in the lagoon near camp. Danielle named their new fish friend “Lobby”. Josie Gibson declared she was never swimming in the lagoon again. Fred wanted to kill, cook and eat them. I’m guessing that Lobby is one of the two rare blue crayfish in the creek? What a relief that the creature didn’t end up in Fred’s frying pan.
