The truth about whether Maura secretly knows Barry on I’m A Celeb, after she dated his son

There doesn’t seem to be any awkwardness between Maura and Barry on I’m A Celeb, which leaves everyone wondering the same thing – do they really know each other?

The Love Islander used to date the boxing legend’s son Shane McGuigan back in 2018, so people were sure there was going to be an award reunion when she entered the camp.

Shane has finally broken his silence and revealed whether the campmates have been hiding the fact that they have secretly met before this entire time.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Barry’s son revealed that he never actually introduced Maura to his dad, so they don’t know each other.

However, he said the pair are likely to get on as they have similar backgrounds.

“Maura aswell she’s an Irish girl – she’s from a small town in Ireland – so they’re both from the sticks,” he said.

“They would have been growing up as kids in a small town so there would be similarities there.”

Maura and Shane dated for a short while in 2018 after meeting at the David Haye vs Tony Bellew boxing rematch at London’s O2 Arena.

At the time, she was working as a ring girl for William Hill and Monster, while Shane, who owns a boxing gym, was commentating the match for a radio show.

Barry’s son is now happily engaged to a singer/songwriter from Buckinghamshire called Taylor West and the pair have two children together.

Shane went on to congratulate his dad for opening up about his grief following the death of his daughter Danika, saying: “It was five years ago but it feels like yesterday.”

“It doesn’t matter if he’s doing it in his living room or on national television. My dad’s brother Dermot took his own life, so I think Oti could have someone to lean on there.”

“I rang mum aswell and she was emotional that he managed to get that comfort in the jungle. It’s a very strange situation. It’s great that they’ve all come together to support each other.”
