Um, Maura already has an awkward connection to one of the I’m A Celeb campmates
What a blast from the past
The I’m A Celeb camp is about to be shaken up as two new people enter the jungle, Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles.
They will be put straight into a separate camp and go on a secret mission before meeting the rest of the cast.
However, Maura is set to see a familiar face as she already has an awkward connection with one of the campmates.
Before going on Love Island, she dated boxing legend Barry McGuigan’s son Shane.
The 36-year-old, who followed in his father’s footsteps, is a coach who trains up-and-coming boxers at his own gym in South West London.
Maura dated Shane in 2018 after they met at the David Haye vs Tony Bellew rematch at London’s O2 Arena.
At the time, the Love Islander worked as a ring girl for William Hill and Monster. Shane was commentating the boxing match for a radio show.
It’s not clear how long they dated for or how serious things got. Did she even meet his parents?
Well, we will soon find out when she walks into the I’m A Celeb camp and recognises Barry – or doesn’t.
Maura still lived in Ireland when she was dating Shane, so long distance could have been the reason why things fizzled out.
Shane is now engaged and has two kids, and Maura has been seen cosying up to Pete Wicks.
However, when The Sun asked the 33-year-old if she was dating him, she said: “I’m not, I’m not. Where have you heard that?”
