Yuck, there’s a super disgusting reason why the I’m A Celeb cast have to wear red socks
I feel sick
With I’m A Celeb back on our screens, everyone is once again intrigued by the bizarre rules the campmates have to follow.
From only being allowed to take in three pairs of knickers to not asking former contestants for advice, there are all kinds of strange ones.
The celebrities also strictly have to wear red socks, and it’s not just because it matches with the rest of the outfit.
Speaking to Woman’s Own magazine, Bob McCarron, who used to be a medic on the show, revealed there is a vile reason why everyone wears red socks.
The colour specifically “disguises bloodstains” – and the stains aren’t from the boots rubbing their feet.
Many of the blood-sucking insects found in the jungle love to bite their legs and feet, but the red socks stop viewers from noticing.
Some of the critters used in the trials often splatter blood up the cast’s ankles when stepped on by accident too. Yuck!
In a 2016 interview on ITV2’s Extra Camp, the medic shared an even more disgusting revelation about the camp.
At the time, there was an issue with fungus growing on people’s bodies!
“We have problems every year with the cast, especially women, funnily enough, growing fungus on certain body parts,” he said.
“Now when Bob says certain body parts, we all know he know what he means!” Joe Swash chimed in.
It was a hygiene issue, and the medic had been “instructing them to use the shower and personal hygiene a little bit more often”.

Watch out Coleen, GK Barry, Jane, Tulisa and Oti.
That was all the way back in 2016 though, so hopefully the camp has got a bit cleaner by now.
