The heartbreaking reason behind Tulisa’s transformation and why she looks so different now
‘This went all the way up until this year…It was at its worst’
Since she joined the camp on I’m A Celeb this year, people have noticed that Tulisa Contostavlos has had a huge transformation. She looks a lot different to her N-Dubz and The X Factor days.
In a recent interview Tulisa has spoken about her transformation, and there’s actually a health reason behind why she’s been getting facial fillers. Speaking on a podcast with former I’m A Celeb contestant and Love Islander Olivia Attwood, Tulisa explained she has Bell’s palsy, a neurological disorder that causes paralysis or weakness on one side of the face.
Tulisa said following her first Bell’s palsy attack, she had filler in the side of her face that had fallen. She said her face “went down to a certain extent” and she was left “with some mild swelling”.
Tulisa added: “My whole face just dropped. Eye everything. I couldn’t even move it. So, my face remained like that for seven months. I didn’t go out, I just hid. Coming to the end of the seven months, my face is still not right. I still have the mild swelling.”
She said that because of this, she would get fillers to “try and balance out the symmetry” in her face. “I would be like, ‘put some in that cheek to match the swelling on that cheek, put some here to lift this up’, yeah it was scary,” Tulisa explained. “Then what happened was, because I had this low level swelling, I then dissolved all the filler and I would match the inflammation by putting filler in the other side.

“So you have this side is swollen, and this side is filler to match the swelling. This went all the way up until this year…It was at its worst.”
Speaking about what work she had done previously, Tulisa added: “I hadn’t had any surgery until, confession time, recently. All the time before there was no surgery, it was only fillers.”
According to Dr Camilla Hill, fillers can be used to help ease the aftereffects of Bell’s palsy. On her website, she states: “The hyaluronic acid with a dermal filler can be tactically inoculated to restore facial symmetry and improve overall facial appearance.”
