These are the top four Fallowfield based hangover cures

Because we all know you’re in no state to get the 143 out of Fallow

We’ve all been there: You got a bit trigger happy on Squirrels’ four for £5 Jägerbombs; you had a messy 256 sports night; a chill pub evening soon turned into buying tequila shots for your table and the next thing you know, you’re on the Magic Bus heading for the club. Whatever the excuse, you’re now facing the consequences – the dreaded hangover.

You’d think that maybe, as a second year, I’d have learned my lesson and mastered the act of reaching that perfect level of tipsy so I can function the next day – sadly not. So, I’ve taken it upon myself to do the Lord’s work and share my wisdom on the best ways to cure that hangover in Fallowfield.

1. Good food

Sometimes, all you need is a big ol’ meal to sort you out. My personal favourite is HAUS brunch: Cheap, plenty of options, and if you’re a soldier who can be up and out early after a 256 Tuesday, they do any brunch meal and a drink for £10 before noon on weekdays.

I’d say the next best option would have to be a classic Maccies. The Fallowfield McDonald’s was the first drive-thru in England, so if you manage to walk all the way there and order a cheeky chicken nugget meal, you’re really just being part of history.

2. Hair of the dog

Fallowfield has plenty to offer if “hair of the dog” is the only way to rescue you. HAUS gets another shoutout with its pizza and pint deal for £10 – the perfect combo.

Maybe you can’t quite stomach food yet, and if that’s the case, why not visit The Friendship Inn for a few pints? Then again, you’d better steer clear if you can’t stomach seeing some regrettable faces from the night before. Studio and Handlebar are personal favourites of mine, and are sure to serve you the drinks that will cure all.

3. Touching grass in Platt Fields

Listen, it’s happened to the best of us. Maybe there isn’t much of the night you remember (or want to remember) and in those cases, I find that touching grass in Platt Fields Park helps me reconnect with my pre-last-night self.

A bit of fresh air and nature is always a good idea, and if it’s a sunny day (which is maybe twice a year in Manchester), the park looks gorgeous. There’s even a cafe in the Market Garden if caffeine usually does the trick for you.

4.  Sweat it out

I can’t say I relate, but if exercise is your way of recovering, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from.

The classics are The Armo and The Gym Group, although you’re guaranteed to see everyone and their mum there at your worst, sweatiest moment. Then there’s Muscle Manor if you fork out an arm and a leg – with their posing room and a lower likelihood of seeing someone from the night before, maybe it’s worth the price?
