Chappell Roan kicks off saying Billboard ‘sucks’ for reporting she split from her management
One fan said ‘isn’t this the sort of thing that would be considered basic entertainment reporting?’
Chappell Roan has been caught up in more drama with the press after she clapped back at Billboard reporting on the news she’d split from her management team with a response that has perplexed a lot of people online. Chappell Roan has become known in her rapid rise to fame for calling out the media and the paparazzi – often very justified in doing so. But as Chappell Roan calls out Billboard for reporting on pretty standard industry news, not as many are in agreement with her response.
In a post on its Instagram account, Billboard reported “Chappell Roan has split with her management team, source confirm to Billboard. The news comes after the breakout star scored her first slate of Grammy nominations – including in all the Big Four categories.
“Roan’s nods were notably left off a congratulatory post shared from the Instagram account for State of the Art – the company Roan was previously signed to, with Nick Bobetsky as her manager.”
Chappell Roan commented on the post yesterday saying “Y’all suck for this”. This comment in particular has received some pushback from people online, as news that an artist has split from their management is pretty standard entertainment reporting. When Dua Lipa, for example, previously split from her management in 2022 it was widely covered.
On Reddit, the general consensus is people saying they “don’t understand her response”. One fan said “She seems to massively overreact to normal reporting and consider it unfair criticism. She fired her management and they reported it. It’s not like it’s slanderous or untrue.”

To play devil’s advocate, maybe Chappell Roan was just responding to Billboard pointing out the former management team didn’t congratulate her on the Grammys nod – which understandably reads as a stirring up drama comment. But still… It is literally just a regular thing that’s happened in the pop culture sphere and honestly don’t really think the story paints Chappell or her ex team in a negative light at all.
