In the race against time, every clue will bring you closer to the escape, or just deeper into the mystery. Only the brave will make it out. Who needs a ghostly cocktail when you’ve got all of that adrenaline?

Craving a fright that’s safely contained within the screen? Head to your nearest cinema and see what classic horrors are on the lineup. The Light Sheffield is showcasing an exciting mix of timeless favourites like “Hocus Pocus”, “Saw” and “Coraline”, alongside some thrilling new releases like “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and “Smile 2”.Whether you’re watching the lighthearted tales, or the ones that are viewed between the fingers, get watching these classics whilst you can as from the 1st November it’s time for the Christmas films to defrost – I don’t make the rules.

Halloween game night

You can’t really go wrong with a game night – that is, if you’re mates aren’t too seriously competitive. Gather your favourite party games – think spooky charades, Halloween trivia, or a themed version of Cards Against Humanity (however that would work you decide). But don’t be boring about it – dress up and add some tacky decorations, a bag of Swizzles sweets and make some creepy mocktails to set the mood. So, turn up the spooky soundtrack, dim the lights and let the games begin.

Immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit by whipping up some delicious treats to impress the flatmates – that’s if you’re feeling kind enough to share. Get creative and make some monster-themed brownies, or ghostly cupcakes. Have a look through Pinterest and chose something to replicate – who cares if it turns out messy? It’s Halloween, cover it in read icing blood. Bonus points if it looks too gross to try.

Pumpkin carving showdown

No Halloween celebration is complete without this beloved tradition. Round up some of your mates and head to the nearest supermarket and make the most of those reduced pumpkins (or if you want to be fancy and aesthetic head to the nearest pumpkin patch) and get stared with some friendly competition.  Unleash your creativity – go for the classic Jacko lantern face, or just carve that one Robert Pattinson meme into it or something. Whether its a masterpiece for a disaster, its all part of the fun.

If you’re fancying something a bit more eerie, why not dive into the chilling history of Sheffield by exploring its most haunted locations? You’ve probably missed out on official tickets for the Ghost Tours, so why not head to The Old Queens Head or just read up on the haunted sightings that have plagued the Steel City. There’s been more than you think (Yikes). Became amateur ghost hunter and explore those unsettling legends. Oh, and don’t forget to bring a camera or no-one will believe you.
