Which Love Actually character are you based on your favourite Sheffield night out?

Hopefully reading this will help you beat the post-UXD depression

Many of you will have now gone home for Christmas, and while I’m sure we all appreciate having a break from the late-night library sessions to get that essay finished which is due the next day, you probably can’t help but reminisce the incredible nights out you’ve had over the last semester (especially if you’re like me going home to a countryside village that has one pub).

Whether you’re a fresher who’s recently discovered the likes of the Leadmill, or a third year who knows West Street like the back of their hand, I think we can all agree that over Christmas we’ll miss the Sheffield nightlife. Let’s be real, eggnog can’t quite beat a Skibidi Rizz Bomb from WSL.

That being said, with only a few days left until December 25th, it’s time to say goodbye to Roar for the next few Wednesdays (heartbreaking, I know) and relax on the sofa with a hot chocolate and some festive films. And if you’re really missing the Sheffield nightlife over the holidays, you may enjoy finding out what Love Actually character I think you are based on your favourite Sheffield bar/ club.

Corporation – Billy Mack (Bill Nighy)

via NOW TV

As a hard-partying rockstar with a dying career, Billy Mack would absolutely live for a Skint Wednesday at Corp. With drinks from 90p and tickets just £1, and alternative rock all night long, Billy would forget all about the fact that he needs to release a Christmas version of his outdated song ‘Love is All Around’ in order to become relevant again. Billy would stay until lights on and instead of missing his 9am the next morning, he would miss his interview to promote ‘Christmas is All Around’.

Bierkeller – Jamie (Colin Firth)

via NOW TV

Jamie is definitely the kind of person that would plan on having a wholesome night in with his housemates, but inevitably end up on West Street dancing on the benches in Bierkeller with a Pornstein in hand. After getting his heart broken, Jamie spontaneously moves to France where he falls in love with Aurelia who doesn’t speak a word of English. Even though he learns Portuguese and flies to her country to ask her to marry him, this is the kind of love bombing he would do to every girl he dances next to on the Bierkeller benches.

Foundry – Sarah (Laura Linney)

via NOW TV

If you’re worried about bumping into your ex-situationship, don’t go to the Foundry, and definitely don’t go to the Foundry smokers. This is advice Sarah wouldn’t follow. Still hung-up on Karl, her office co-worker she was obsessed with for years and had a brief romance with, Sarah would camp out at Foundry smokers every week in hopes of seeing him. Even though she’s the one that ended it, she would stalk his Snap Maps to see if he’s there to convince him to buy her a Jagerbomb.

Popworld – David the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant)

via NOW TV

Why be at 10 Downing Street when you could be at Popworld Sheffield? David doesn’t take himself too seriously, despite being elected to lead the country. With his self-deprecating jokes, David wouldn’t care that Popworld is made fun of by many students in Sheffield because he would be having too much fun in the middle of the dancefloor. From the iconic scene of him dancing around Number 10 to the Pointer Sisters hit ‘Jump (For My Love)’, it’s obvious he appreciates a cheesy 80s classic which is why I know he would be a regular at Popworld.

Honky Tonk – Colin (Kris Marshall)

via NOW TV

Colin decides to move to America in hopes of charming women with his ‘cute British accent’, so it makes sense that you’d find him at Honky Tonk, an American-themed bar with live country and western music. Although it’s not the most popular bar on West Street, Honky Tonk has attracted a loyal customer base amongst sports societies who often go there to begin their pre-Roar bar crawl. This means that Colin would feel right at home as after moving to the States he manages to find an American girlfriend, despite being extremely unpopular with the women in London.
