‘It’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything commenting on it’
As the release of the Wicked movie edges closer, Ethan Slater has opened up about the “really difficult” times he faced as his relationship with co-star Ariana Grande was made public and received heavy scrutiny and debate – seeing his private life blasted into headline news for the first time.
Wicked saw Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande evolve from co-workers to lovers, with both of them separating from their married life in the process. The entire saga was major headline news and heavily scrutinised. Ariana Grande has since addressed the entire public spectacle of her personal life across her album with this year’s Eternal Sunshine. Specifically, and most iconically, when she sang on lead single Yes, And “Why do you care so much whose d*ck I ride?” Queen.
Now, Ethan Slater has opened up about the scrutiny regarding his relationship with Ariana Grande for the first time. Speaking in a new profile for GQ, Ethan Slater was asked about what it was like falling in love making Wicked. Ethan said “Obviously, it was a really super big year.
“And I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public. There were a lot of big changes in private lives that were really happening, so it’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love. So just to address that part of it, that feels really hard.
