Emergency services called after fireworks ‘thrown at people’ in Birmingham student accom

Two people have reportedly been injured as a result


Emergency services were called to a Birmingham student accommodation after fireworks were “thrown at people and police”.

This morning, police and fire crews descended on the Bagot Street and Staniforth Street area, near Aston University, after it was reported that people were throwing fireworks at people.

Suspects are also believed to have been launching fireworks at the university accommodation buildings.

According to Birmingham Live, a dispersal order has been placed on the area and two people may have been injured.

A video was shared to TikTok showing two fire engines and numerous police officers approaching the scene.

Another video, filmed from above, shows a large number of people congregating outside with fireworks being heard going off the the background.

The person videoing the incident emphasised their shock at the situation, calling those letting off the fireworks “scum” and saying: “This is horrendous.”

A West Midlands Police representative said: “A Section 35 dispersal order has been put in place following calls from the public who were concerned about groups of people launching fireworks at each other and neighbouring buildings. We will be taking action against anyone involved in public order offences or any other criminality that is reported to us.”
