Bournemouth University secures £1.2 million grant to enhance study abroad opportunities
This grant will benefit up to 500 BU students
Bournemouth University (BU) has been awarded a significant £1.2 million grant for the 2024/25 academic year, aimed at enhancing its study abroad initiatives.
The funding, provided through the UK Turing Scheme, is set to offer students a wealth of international experiences, catering to all academic levels.
With this substantial support, around 500 BU students will be able to participate in a range of global activities, including exchanges, work placements, and volunteer opportunities.
These experiences are designed to immerse students in diverse cultural and professional environments, set to improve their educational journey.
According to the BBC, the placements will vary in duration, ranging from a minimum of 28 days to a maximum of 12 months, offering flexibility to suit different academic schedules and personal commitments.
University officials have expressed enthusiasm about the funding, highlighting its potential to enhance student learning.
Meghan Ellis, from BU, said the scheme was a “vital” way of giving students a “global outlook” during their time at university.
Another student who had benefited from the Turing Scheme added: “This experience has shown me the value of cross-cultural collaboration and the unique perspectives it brings.”
This initiative highlights BU’s commitment to promoting a global perspective within its educational framework.
As BU moves forward with these plans, it looks forward to opening doors for students eager to explore and engage on a global scale.
