Eight frustrating things only Warwick students would understand
Yes, our uni is in coventry…
Being a Warwick student is great, and definitely comes with perks, like being able to lord it over the Coventry students that we go to Warwick when we go to Kasbah mondays or have people realise you’re actually *really* smart. But as with all things, there are also some things that really get you down, irritate you and have you frankly wondering why you pursued higher education over seeking a life of solitude up in the mountains somewhere. So, here is our list of eight frustrating things only Warwick uni students will understand.
1. The U1 and U2
Why oh why are these buses never on time? And why do they send single decker buses at the busiest times of the day? It’s a question all students ponder whilst stood at the bus stop in the rain as yet another bus goes past displaying the sign that they’re full. Want to get into campus for 9am? Don’t bet on it…
2. Having to explain where Warwick uni actually is
Yes ok technically our uni is in Coventry but for all intents and purposes we say it’s in the Midlands or at a stretch near Birmingham. God forbid anyone thinking we’re Coventry students *shudder*.
3. 9am classes on Thursday mornings
It’s one of the universes biggest tricks. POP! on a Wednesday night, 9am classes on Thursdays. It’s not so bad if you’re a first year and can wander back to your accommodation afterwards but for those second and third years who have to make the treacherous bus journey back to Leamington- good luck.
4. Stem students in the fab
Most Read
Maybe I’m biased as an English student but seriously- you have your own buildings go and work in them and stop clogging up our spaces!! If I hear one more econ student sitting in the creative writing section I will lose it.
5. The insane prices and queues
Want to grab a cheap lunch on campus? Think again! The prices are getting higher and higher on campus and the queues longer and longer.
6. The walk from Tesco and Aldi to student accom
This was always a killer in my first year. If you’re lucky enough to live in claycroft and only have a five minute walk to the shops, good on you. If you live on central campus and have to walk 20+ minutes just to get some stuff for dinner, I salute you and send commiserations.
7. Not getting timetables until the first day of term
This was such a fun and fresh aspect of this term. Why would you not get your timetable until the day, or day before, you start classes?
8. CAN WE PLEASE PICK ONE SOFTWARE AND STICK TO IT
Tabula, Moodle, WordPress, Talis, webpages. Can we please, for everyones’ sanity pick just one and make it clear!
