Mary claims Selling Sunset producers made her wait to find out pregnancy result to film it
‘You’re going to delay us finding out whether or not we’re having a baby?!’
Mary Bonnet has accused Selling Sunset producers of making her wait to take a pregnancy test so they could film it for the show, leaving her in “astonishment” over their behaviour. Mary made the shocking claims in her new memoir, Selling Sunshine, where she recalled having a very “strong hunch” that she was pregnant after returning from a trip to Bali with Romain.
She then told the Selling Sunset production team about her suspicion, who she claims already knew how hard Mary and Romain were trying to conceive. But, to her shock, instead of letting her take the test immediately in private the team wanted her actual reaction and asked her to wait to take it as they were busy filming other scenes for the show.
She explained: “Naturally, they wanted to capture the entire thing on camera, so they asked me to wait to take the pregnancy test until they could be there.” She responded: “Well, then you need to come over now, because I’m going to do it.” But she says they told her they were in the middle of filming other scenes and she would just have to wait.
She continues: “I was like, ‘Are you kidding?’ You’re going to delay us finding out whether or not we’re having a baby?! Can’t we just re-create the scene?”
In the end she had to wait until the next morning, when she learned she was indeed pregnant. She added: “In addition to my absolute astonishment, I suddenly became aware that I had cameras on me, recording my reaction, which made me hyper-focused on what I was saying and doing.”

She later described her experiences when suffering a miscarriage, claiming that despite Romain calling the Selling Sunset producers to tell them they’d be “grieving alone” the team wanted their “emotions to be fresh” when they filmed the scene. Instead, they offered to keep the crew small and only have Amanza Smith in the scene.
