Nightlife chain Fishies announce new Wednesday night out at Bohemia in Durham
Fishies will be opening doors in Durham on Wednesday 9th October
Nightlife chain Fishies announced yesterday that they will be hosting a regular Wednesday night out at Bohemia nightclub for the upcoming academic year.
Fishies are collaborating with local events organisations Bounce Events Durham and Dial In Durham to host and promote their nights out. The announcement was made in a collaborative Instagram post that showed their mascot touring the city of Durham in full costume before ending up in Bohemia.
Opening night for Fishies Durham will be on the week after Freshers’ Week, with the first event expected to take place on Wednesday 9th October. Fishies are a large chain who already operate in cities including Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford, Bournemouth, Southampton, Bristol and Plymouth.
Fishies are primarily marketing the event as a sports night as is traditional on a Wednesday. A spokesperson for Fishies told The Tab: “Our focus is to look after all sports teams – we feel that some sports teams are favoured over others in other clubs – we are accepting of everyone and want even the smallest clubs to feel as important as the largest”.
Fishies added that “prices will reflect the quality of the events”, suggesting that prices may vary slightly on a week to week basis. For reference, upcoming Fishies events in other cities tend to cost around £5, at a similar price point to most ticketed Durham night clubs.
An aspect that Fishies are keen to point out is their commitment to change. Rather than running the same night out week in week out, a spokesperson for Fishies said: “The biggest selling point of Fishies is every week is different. We feel that there’s not enough diversity across the events in Durham”.
