The jaw dropping amount Neil Patrick Harris got paid weekly for How I Met Your Mother
I’m actually speechless
We all know that one of the best ways to make some seriously lucrative amounts of money in the early to mid 2000s was if you were one of the main cast members of a big sitcom, just like Neil Patrick Harris was as Barney on How I Met Your Mother.
And the amount he ended up getting paid weekly in the final seasons of the show is absolutely jaw dropping.
In an interview with The Howard Stern Show back in 2014, Neil Patrick Harris admitted that he was “well paid” in the final season of How I Met Your Mother. You can certainly say that again!
The host asked Neil whether he was happy with the amount he got paid, and the actor replied, “Are you kidding? Yes, I was happy with that.” But now for the all important figure of how much he was making per week, which ended up being $250,000 (£191,400).
Given that just one season could take several months to film and the final season had 24 episodes to get through, I reckon he got a very hefty paycheck at the end of filming.
Neil also shared more about how the rest of the sitcom’s cast negotiated their lofty salaries, saying they were all earning around the same figure as him. He elaborated: “We’d gotten eight seasons out of it, this was an extra season, a fantastic final lap and why shouldn’t we be reaping the benefits of that. And I feel like everyone has proven their worth on the show, everyone is providing and deserves to get paid well.”
