House of the Dragon episode ‘review bombed’ following kiss between Rhaenyra and Mysaria

The most recent episode of House of the Dragon has been review bombed after it featured a same-sex kiss between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. The episode currently holds a 6.2 star rating on IMDb with over 33 per cent of viewers giving it just one star. This means it is now the lowest rated House of the Dragon episode ever, and the fourth lowest if you include all of Game of Thrones.

So far, over 27,000 ratings have been given on IMDb, with roughly 9,400 of them being one star, and of those, 4,500 have come from Saudi Arabia. Trolls who are targeting House of the Dragon claim the kiss between Rhaenyra and Mysaria is part of a “pointless agenda.”

One reviewer claimed the moment was an “unnecessary scene that will drag the storyline to its doom.” Another wrote: “Adding this kind of pointless scene suggested by some actress who plays the character or unstudied ideas by a writer who doesn’t even understand this world and treats it’s his own will shift the story from deep conflict between a family and a deadly war to some cheap version that doesn’t relate to the main conflict.”

However, the most common rating for the episode was 10 stars, which contributed to 20.4 per cent of the overall 6.2 rating. The moment has been wildly discussed online after Sonoya, who plays Mysaria, admitted the kiss was actually unscripted.

She revealed to The Wrap: “It wasn’t scripted as a kiss. I think it was scripted as … there’s just breath between them or something, and then whatever happens is interrupted. Because we were separate in the room … [and] Mysaria has told this story, [D’Arcy] felt the instinct to hold her, to comfort her. From that, it felt so organic to go into the kiss.” Just run away together already!
