Bridgerton confirms queer romance in future seasons and people think it’s Cressida and Eloise
‘We are exploring queer love stories across the next couple of seasons’
A creator for Bridgerton has confirmed there will be queer romances in future seasons of the show, and now people are convinced there is love on the cards for Eloise and Cressida Cowper.
Conversation has before turned to LGBTQ characters on Bridgerton, as the show is yet to have a major queer storyline. Despite the show being set in Regency London, it literally contains orchestra covers of Pitbull, so it could definitely also reflect modern times in its storylines, too.
Now, Bridgerton show runner Jess Brownell has said they definitely aren’t ignoring viewers talking about this, and has confirmed queer relationships will be explored in future seasons of the show.
Speaking just before Bridgerton season three was released on Netflix, she was asked if major storylines will include queer characters and love stories. “Yeah, absolutely,” she said to Refinery29 Australia.
“I think this is a show about the many ways in which people love. So it only feels right to show all the ways in which people love, including queer love. So we are exploring queer love stories across the next couple of seasons.”
She didn’t say who would feature in these stories, but said: “I don’t want to say exactly how that plays out. But it was important to me to foreground queer love and to tell queer stories and tell stories about queer joy as well.”
Fear not though, because Bridgerton fans think they’ve cracked who these stories will feature around. Eloise Bridgerton and Cressida Cowper. It has often been questioned if Eloise may be queer, and in season three we see her form a close bond with the enemy, Cressida. Could this blossom into something more?

People are saying it’s “obvious” Cressida and Eloise are “courting” given the way they enjoy walks through the gardens together in the height of the social season, when everyone else is walking in their courting couples.
They also use “courting language” such as “call upon” when talking to one another, and have spoken about “rejecting” each other before.
