Both Nottingham unis rank in top 50 of The Times’ Good University Guide

However, both universities dropped in rank from 2023


University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have both been ranked in the UK’s Top 50 Universities, according to The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2024.

University of Nottingham ranked 32nd, while Nottingham Trent University ranked 43rd.

This is a decline in rankings for both universities, with UoN ranking 30th in 2023, and NTU ranking 42nd.

The Times Good University Guide is one of the most definitive rankings in the country, providing detailed insight into around 134 UK universities. Each university is assessed on teaching quality, student experience, research quality and graduate prospects, among other factors.

The University of Nottingham ranked significantly higher in the Times’ guide than in The Guardian’s 2024 league table, where it placed 59th, but Nottingham Trent was placed at a similar 42 in this table.

According to the guide, 85.5 per cent of UoN students receive a First or 2:1 in their degree, and the university scored 69.5 for student experience. Teaching quality scored 71.9, and graduate prospects are at 87.2.

The teaching quality at Nottingham Trent University received a score of 78.1, student experience was at 76.1, research quality was at 41.9 and graduate prospects were at 76.1.

The Times’ guide gives a detailed overview into higher education in Britain, giving upcoming students the opportunity to make an informed decision about their next step, able to take into account everything from student experience and teaching satisfaction through to graduate prospects and degree classification rates
