People are sharing memes of their local answers to the Cecil Hotel and they’re savage

Right now, Twitter is full of people sharing memes comparing places in their local area to the infamous Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. 

If you haven’t caught up, Netflix has released a documentary series called Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. The series focuses on the 2013 death of 21-year-old Canadian student Elisa Lam. She went missing on February 1st, and it wasn’t until the 19th of that month that her body was found in a water tank on the roof of the hotel. There a loads of theories about what might have happened to her – including that hotel staff were involved, she was a tuberculosis test subject, she was killed, or that her death was somehow linked to the hundreds of other creepy things that have happened at the hotel.

The documentary concluded that she had an episode after stopping taking her bipolar medicines, and that her death was caused by accidental drowning. But this case is just the tip of the iceberg for the Cecil – there has a whole history of deaths, crime, suicides and even serial killers living there before.

But now people are finding their local versions of buildings with bad vibes. Just a quick disclaimer: This doesn’t actually confirm that anyone is saying the sort of crazy, unexplained things that happen at the Cecil Hotel have happened at any of these places, they’re just memes. Maybe check TripAdvisor or something.
