A person has died after being hit by a train near Selly Oak station
Lines have now re-opened
Emergency services have responded to tragic reports of a person being struck by a train near Selly Oak train station.
Police were called shortly after 2pm and quickly shut down Selly Oak station. Multiple ambulances and police units attended the incident.
In a statement a British Transport Police spokesman confirmed that “the person has sadly died." They added that "the incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
*NEW* Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Redditch and Lichfield Trent Valley all lines are disrupted. Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 16:00 06/02.

All Cross city south services between Redditch and New Street were cancelled until shortly before 4pm with delays expected to continue into the afternoon.
Valid train tickets are being accepted on National Express West Midlands buses.
