Big Names of Newcastle: A night out with George Jeavons-Fellows
George won BNOC of the year 2015
We’ve all seen them – the people who skip the queue because they’re mates with the bouncer, don’t pay for a single drink and are endlessly bumping into people they haven’t seen for “so long”.
We went for a night out in Swingers with George Jeavons-Fellows, winner of The Tab’s prestigious BNOC of the year award and all-round great lad. There were VKs, speed contests and unhealthy amounts of wasabi, and that’s before he even got to the club.
You don’t have to be a BNOC to use Yubl, but it helps.
Everyone knows George, the half-Canadian 21 year old in his third year of studying Architecture and Planning at Newcastle Uni. The ripped 1st team rugby player is a brand ambassador for FIXR and Bumble and runs his own watch company. Between all that he manages to fit in running a fortnightly acoustic night at Blanc, Jesmond.
George is known around campus for many things, but his proudest moment was when he won £50 in poker and bought 50 £1 cheeseburgers from McDonalds. It doesn’t get much better than that.

His night started in glamorous Sohe, where George’s delicious steak was accompanied by a generous helping of not so delicious wasabi thanks to a dare from his mate Liv. She made sure he went through with it by yubling the dare and getting their mates to vote overwhelmingly for him to eat it.
George didn’t exactly enjoy the experience, but when you’re a big name you’ve got to give the people what they want.

He said: “It didn’t go down well but it could have been a lot worse I suppose. At least there weren’t any votes to shave my head which I’m thankful for.”
Espresso martinis at 97 & Social helped get rid of the flavour of the wasabi and George’s group made sure everyone knew just how classy they were by posting the round on Yubl.
Next stop was Soho Rooms to get on the trebles. Our BNOC challenged his mate Ollie to a speed contest to help decide who was the real man of the night, but he let himself and all of us down with a pitiful loss.
He made up for his emasculating loss by buying a bottle of vodka for everyone and getting on the jaegerbombs. It’s the only way to do it.
George made sure everyone knew where the pre’s were happening by yubling their location and within 10 minutes people were turning up to join the party.

After an extended drinking sesh they finally got to Swingers where the night really started to kick off.
If you can’t make Swingers then Tup on a Wednesday comes in a close second and Sunday’s Persistence never fails to be a good night. If you can’t trust a BNOC, who can you trust?
Obviously George knew pretty much everyone in Swingers.

In true BNOC style, George and his mates weren’t ready to call it a night at 3am. He said:
“Just before Swingers closed we got a group together and headed to The Pink Room. The drag queen DJ pretty much sums up the vibe in there, but it’s open until 4am, the music is as cheesy as you like and it’s a bloody good laugh.”
George may not be the best at downing trebles but when it comes to having legendary nights out he’s your man.
And in classic Newcastle style, the night finished with a trip to the kebab shop.
