Oxford maintains its foothold in the top 10 universities in the world

Oxford is the sixth best university in the world, according to the latest rankings published today by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

This year we have maintained our position of 6th, in the midst of most UK universities tumbling down the rankings. More consistent than Cambridge perhaps, who fell one place to 4th this year, we are still the second best UK university on the global stage. UCL (seventh) and Imperial (ninth) round out a top 10 comprising four UK universities.

Stiff competition from the US heavyweights of MIT, Harvard, Stanford and Caltech meant that 6th place was almost to be expected.

Oxford scored particularly highly in the following categories (out of 100):

Academic Reputation – 100 per cent

Employer Reputation – 100 per cent

Faculty-Student Ratio – 100 per cent

Citations per Faculty – 83.6 per cent

International Faculty – 98.7 per cent

International Students – 98.2 per cent

Oxford’s performance in Academic and Employer Reputation actually placed it third and second in the world respectively.
