The king is dead: Spencer Matthews has quit Made in Chelsea

Spenny has followed Caggie into the sunset

His ‘fans’ know him best for cheating on Louise, cheating on Lucy and cheating on Lauren. Now, Spencer Matthews plans to do his philandering in private: he has left Made in Chelsea for good.

A source from E4 has confirmed that he’s gone, and says he wishes to “pursue other ventures”.

“Spencer won’t return for the next series of Made In Chelsea which has just started filming. It’s a massive loss to the E4 show because Spencer is undoubtedly its biggest and best-known character. Viewers just love to hate him.”

Certainly, E4 will have to recruit someone new to stare moodily into the Thames for slightly too long (there are a lot of minutes to fill) and be slapped by a revolving cast of wronged women.

Spenny has not tweeted since he was allegedly kicked off I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here after confessing to using steroids to bulk up for a charity boxing match.

“Shortly after I arrived in Australia I told the production team that I was taking a steroid-based medication that had begun some weeks ago,” Matthews said in a statement after leaving the show. “When I started taking this programme of pills it was in preparation for a charity boxing match which, ironically, never took place. My admission to the production team that I was still taking these pills led to the conclusion that it would be unsafe for me to stay in the jungle – a decision which I found extremely hard to stomach,” Mathews said in a statement after he left the show.

It’s rumoured that he’s spending some time in Africa to “give back”. And according to Vicky Pattison, a mate from his brief visit to the jungle, he’s “away in Tanzania teaching kids English and building an orphanage”. Huge if true. Also, better than flirting his way up and down the King’s Road, or getting busted pulling students.
