Watch out: Thieves stealing phones from right under your nose
The ‘Artful Dodger’ is back
A ruthless pair of thieves are currently plaguing Loughborough under the ruse of asking for directions from unknowing customers.
The pair, who are believed to be between 18-20 years of age, have deceived both cappuccino and Big Mac devotees at both McDonalds and Costa Coffee in town.
By pretending to ask for directions, the duo then place a map on the victim’s table over a mobile phone.
Following a brief exchange of mapping advice the thieves then pick up any valuables along with the map and then make a hasty exit.

A reconstruction
Inspector Tracey Willetts told the Leicester Mercury:
“The one suspect is described as Eastern European in appearance, stocky build and is believed to be working in conjunction with another taller ‘darker skinned’ man.
“Both are between 18-20 years of age.
“I would appeal for people to be vigilant and ensure their property is secured when in cafes or restaurants.”
