The 5 ds of Dodgeball: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and… dodge
Adidas sports team take on Newcastle at Dodgeball
Sport stars Stuart Broad and Jessica Ennis played in a Dodgeball tournament on campus as part of the unis partnership with Adidas.
At 1pm outside the SU, the crowd saw twelve colourfully-named student teams compete against each other until there were just three teams left to inevitably get the shit kicked out of them by the professional athletes – Stuart Broad, Helen Glover, Zoe Smith, Steve Harmison, Christian Wade and Jessica Ennis-Hill.
Following the sacred rules – dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge – the Adidas All Star team won 2 – 1.

A big crowd braved the weather

This is the first event celebrating the partnership of Adidas & Newcastle University. Speaking at the event, Adidas student ambassador Ben Underwood told The Tab:
“Adidas have come in; they’ve put a lot of money into the sport. It’s enriching the student experience… so essentially it’s just a massive deal for the Uni,”
When asked how Adidas/Newcastle could top the star-studded event – because it doesn’t get bigger or better than Jessica Ennis-Hill being on campus – Performance Sports Manager Fraser Kennedy said:
“Well, no, you can’t, but Adidas are running various events over the next few months… Details will follow. I can’t say any more than that.”
