Trump Campaign Chair Paul Manafort resigns

‘This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign’

Trump Campaign Chair Paul Manafort has just handed in his resignation amid revelations he waged a covert lobbying campaign for the former Ukrainian president.

It also comes two days after Trump announced a shakeup to his team, bringing in Breitbart Exec Stephen Bannon as campaign CEO, and promoting Kellyane Conway to campaign manager.

According to a statement from Trump, the two parted on good terms.

He praised Manafort’s efforts during the campaign: “I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process.

“Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success.”
