The York Tab’s ultimate guide to having the ultimate Galentine’s Day
I wish every day was Galentine’s Day x
Whether you’re in a three year relationship or extremely single, the most fun you’ll ever have on Valentine’s Day is with the girls. It’s basically a huge excuse to have cocktails, sweet treats, and gossip. As it’s taking over TikTok right now, here’s some inspiration to take your York Galentine’s to the next level this year.
Dinner date
Comfort food is a must for a single Galentine’s Day, and a meal with the girls is the perfect treat. Italian food is THE go to – you really can’t beat a bit of pizza, pasta, and wine. Plus, if you’re not feeling dining out, you can’t go wrong with takeout pizza and a £6 bottle of wine from the corner shop. It’s a win win.
Coffee date
Start the day off right with a good breakfast and coffee. All the girlies know that brunch makes everything better. Our fave York spots include Rise, Brew & Brownie, Coffee Culture, Spring Espresso, and The Perky Peacock. Perfect for a couple hours of gossip, complaining, and crying (if needed). Plus, Bottomless Brunch is always a shout…
Academic grind
It might seem a bit sad, but your future self will thank you for going to those lectures. If you’re dreading the 14th, get on that academic grind – ignore everything and anyone to focus on yourself. Use the day to stop procrastinating and get your reading done early – 100 per cent the best plan. What’s wrong with Galentine’s in the library?
Wednesday night out
Most Read
Not feeling the wholesome night in? Lucky for you this Valentine’s lands on a Wednesday – the best student night out. Who knows, you might even meet someone or even better get a shout out from Jason Reilly. Down those VKs and forget about your single status. Sports social and Salvos here we come…
Baking
There’s nothing better than baking on Valentine’s Day. Drown those single sorrows in cake (obvs). Red velvet is the ultimate recipe to go for, with a side of chocolate dipped strawberries of course. Other trending bakes this Galentine’s include white choc & raspberry cookies, strawberry & cinnamon rolls, and nutella heart cheesecake. Allll the sweetness.
Cocktails
Everyone loves a bright coloured cocktail – the more sugar the better. Forget blue shits, why not make a cute red themed cocktail for Galentines? With a bit of cranberry juice and whatever else you fancy, you’ve got your own special cocktail which you can enjoy with the girlies. Heart ice cubes not required, but too cute to miss. You could even splash out on some fancy glasses if you are feeling extra bougie this Galentine’s.
Homemade pizza
If you can’t face leaving the house, homemade pizza is the best option. Roll the dough into a cute heart shape, pick your toppings, and then judge whoever’s goes terribly wrong. Also judge those having ham and pineapple because that is a true red flag x
Bowling
Cute idea for a big group, but it really hits you when you start to lose (from experience). Not the best idea for the painfully single and competitive girlies out there.
The main conclusion is to have fun! There is nothing wrong with being single and all the single girlies out there deserve to enjoy V day with their friends x
