Meet us at our open meeting at The Vault on Tuesday 24th at 6pm
It’s official – we are finally recruiting new writers here at The King’s Tab!
There’s much anticipation surrounding relaunching The King’s Tab for the brand new academic year. The already existing team is so excited to expand ourselves and recruit new writers from a variety of academic backgrounds, all with a passion for writing.
If you’re looking to join us, we will be hosting an open meeting at The Vault at Strand on Tuesday 24th September at 6pm. These meetings will continue bi-weekly all throughout the academic year and we will consistently post reminders about this on our Instagram.
Here at The King’s Tab, we are the number one point of call for all of your King’s news, memes and gossip. We are written by King’s students FOR King’s students.
Whoever you are, or whatever you are interested in: An aspiring journalist, meme maker, content creator, or someone looking for and to try something new – you are all welcome to join us.
The King’s Tab editorial team will be in attendance and along the way, you can meet our Assistant Editor from The Tab HQ and other student writers all over the UK. Like me, you will make a whole new group of friends. We really are one big family. No previous experience in necessary.
We will also be recruiting a new Social Media Editor soon, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
What is The Tab?
You might have seen us on your Instagram explore page. We were one of the first to report on Molly-Mae and Tommy splitting up. Iconic, if you ask me.
Simply put, The Tab is a student news site across over 30 UK universities, with over 10 million monthly readers. Our news is not just limited to reporting the various organisations that stand outside of King’s building every week handing our flyers, but is extended to stories people actually care and want to read about. We’re always looking to try new things and write different stories.
Your stories will always be crossposted on all our Tab pages, exposing them to a much wider audience and increasing your and ours engagement.
We strive to be the first to break stories at King’s and in London, covering important issues. We talk about we talk about mental health, student campaigns for Palestine, and report on how King’s has responded to national crisis.
However, we can also be fun and light-hearted. We have written about what is serving towards a Brat summer here in London, King’s students worst dating horror stories, and all the celebs spotted at the Eras Tour in London.
Why should I write for The King’s Tab?
The Tab is at the centre of modern media aimed at young people.
The King’s Tab is an extension of The Tab UK, specifically for King’s students to enjoy and relate to.
Our team works with an Assistant Editor who is a professional journalist based at The Tab HQ in London. Basic training is provided and quality advice is given, all to make your writing the best it can be, but in a way that is still authentic to you.
The Tab alumni even frequently go on to work for famous publications all over the world, including VICE, The Times, and Vogue. Former Tab student writers have go on to jobs at The Telegraph, The Sun, Daily Express, Spectator and Cosmopolitan. This could be you!
If you’re looking to get into media, or just want to try something new and expand your opportunities whilst studying, The King’s Tab is perfect for you. It is one of the easiest ways to build up a portfolio of your writing and to get it out there into the world for others to see.
