Poker Grand Prix is in Cardiff this weekend

There’s a £190,000 moneypot

Thousands of poker players are heading to Cardiff Football Stadium this weekend for the chance to win just under £200,000!

Online giant ‘partypoker’ are setting up a tournament in the Cardiff stadium across this Saturday and Sunday.

Want to try your hand?

The event took place in Brighton last month, where the top four players scooped £70,000 of the total prize pool, with winner, James Dempsey who scored £30,500 and took home the trophy!

The Tab will be attending alongside Cardiff University student, Jack Anthony, who has been playing poker for the last 4 years and joined the poker society in his final year – and has won several tournaments.

The buy in is only £83, and everyone who qualifies for the second day is in on some prize money, and get a free ticket to their next event, worth £83.

There are three “Day One Flights” at 12noon, 4pm or 7pm on Saturday, September 3, or you can play your first day online, which is where you will begin your poker journey. Those who qualify for the second day will return on Sunday, September 4 at 12noon and play until the winner is crowned.

Tournament Director, Simon Trumper said: “The tournament gives grassroots poker players the opportunity to play for very little money. You can win your entry for less than a penny online and who knows what sort of payday you can end up with!”
