Man jailed after stabbing another man in South Park

The victim was stabbed five times

Sam Muiruri, 24, from Headington has been jailed for six years after pleading guilty to wounding with intent.

Last April, a bloody fight took place in South Park near St. Clements, causing authorities to cordon off the area, restricting access to the park. Numerous police vans and an ambulance were seen after an altercation took place between a group of young men, possibly students.

It has since been confirmed that Mr. Muiruri stabbed another man five times at the Morrell Avenue entrance to the Oxford park. He plead guilty to intentionally wounding and was sentenced a further one year for carrying a weapon, the blade, in a public place.

The motif behind the malicious attack is unknown but the victim was also a male in his early twenties from the Oxford area.

Investigating Officer, Det Con Charlotte Oliver told The Oxfordshire Guardian: “This was a violent crime against the victim but also very frightening for members of the public who were in the park when it happened.

“Violence like this will not be tolerated”.
