Is Emily in Paris moving to Rome for good? Here’s the ending of season four explained
The show’s creator has revealed where Emily will be in season five
The highly anticipated, Emily In Paris season four part two dropped on Netflix last week and viewers were left a little confused with what’s next for Emily. We all fell in love with Emily in Paris for it’s easy watch feel and beautiful views of the French capital. Everyone was excited to find out whether Emily would finally end up with Gabriel or if there was a new guy on the scene.
Cast members teased that the characters take a trip to Rome in the second half of season four, which added a new dimension the show that it was starting to need. However, it appears that this trip to Rome may become more permanent if it is renewed for season five. But will Emily in Paris move to Rome for good? Here are your answers.
Spoiler alert: Lets recap the events of season four
Part two of season four followed Emily and Gabrielle struggle to make things work with Camille and the baby, resulting in them breaking up. Then, Camille finally tells Gabrielle that she is not actually pregnant, like she thought. After the breakup, Emily meets Italian love interest, Marcello, in Paris and he begs her to visit him in Rome.
Emily shares a romantic trip away in Rome with Marcello, until Sylvie crashes and turns it into a work trip.

Right at the end of the series, Sylvie asks Emily to move to Rome to run the office there and she does. Gabrielle realises he’s made a mistake letting her go and decided to find her in Rome. It ends with Emily deleting the word Paris off of her Instagram handle @EmilyinParis and she rides off on a moped with Marcello.
So, will Emily in Paris move to Rome in season five?
A lot of viewers have left the series confused as where it will go next. Many people believed that this would be a permanent shift to Rome and be turned into Emily In Rome. However, the shows creator Darren Star spoke to Deadline and debunked this theory. He said that although he is not entirely sure how the story will continue in later seasons, the move to Rome is not permanent: “She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie’s company has an office in Rome. Emily’s getting that on its feet.
“I don’t necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it’s definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We’re not leaving Paris.” Phew!
So the fact that Emily deleted the word Paris in her Instagram handle but did not change it to @EmilyinRome probably demonstrates the uncertainty of where she belongs and the excitement that comes with that, which I’m sure will be explored in later seasons.
How have people reacted to the possible relocation?
I would honestly be okay with 10 more seasons of Emily in Paris where it’s just Emily visiting beautiful cities around the world and falling in love with local hot men. https://t.co/gJeoSn1HKw

I think this change is really exciting for fans of the show and will provide even better storylines and beautiful scenery. Many fans are excited about the change and are jumping on to “team Marcello”, with the implication of a new love triangle between him, Emily and Gabriel. One fan took to twitter and stated “I would honestly be okay with 10 more seasons of Emily in Paris where it’s just Emily visiting beautiful cities around the world and falling in love with local hot men.”
I couldn’t agree more! What the show does best is providing episodes filled with fabulous outfits, gorgeous locations, lovable characters, hot love interests and most importantly a sense of escapism. This format could be easily taken anywhere in Europe and I cannot wait to see how Emily adapts to her new Italian adventure.
