Who is Sammie the stylist from Selling Sunset, and what really went down with Chrishell?
Chrishell claimed that he called her a ‘fake lesbian’ amongst other insults
It’s no surprise to anyone that a show that oozes luxury the way Selling Sunset does would come filled with drama. Season eight of the glamorous property show revealed some serious tea when Chrishell Stause found herself uncomfortable with an invite to Amanza Smith’s birthday party, after having a bad experience with her stylist, Sammie Moussallem.
Who is Sammie?
Sammie Moussallem is a stylist who’s worked with huge brands and celebrities, and has even styled for the iconic show, Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
At the moment, he’s been currently working on the everybody’s favourite Netflix show Selling Sunset. He worked specifically with Amanza Smith, which is where all the drama came from.
What happened between Sammie and Chrishell?
On the show, Amanza celebrated her 47th birthday party with her friends and family, but was surprised when Chrishell revealed she was worried about going due to a certain attendee. She told viewers about the previous bad experience she had with Sammie:
“I feel like I’ve made a lot of headway with Amanza and my relationship with her, but I am just a little nervous to go to her birthday to be in the same room with the stylist that she worked with just because he was upset that I corrected him stating he was a stylist for me.
“So then he went on a very public rant just saying I’m a fake lesbian, that I’m nothing but a green card to G [Flip, her partner], saying that I’ve gotta get some d*** in my hole. Like what does this have to do with G. And everyone’s like, ‘Oh, but he’s gay.’ Does that excuse any of those comments? It makes it worse, to be honest.”
A rundown of the off-camera drama
In 2023, Sammie spoke to Vice about the outfits on Selling Sunset, claiming that he “put Chrishell in an Ivy Park jumpsuit” which resulted in Adidas reaching out “asking to send me more stuff for the show.”
However, Chrishell was quick to shut these claims down, posting to her Instagram story that “I bought that suit and did not work with a stylist for any of Selling Sunset.” She also said that she “had Vice change the story to reflect the truth.”
They seemed to end on bad terms as Chrishell finished her statement with “blocked and moving on.” She shared a similar message on X regarding the situation.
After all this came out on Chrishell’s side, Sammie addressed her comments in his own Instagram post.
He wrote in a statement: “I was discredited by @chrishell.stause for a shoot I had worked on which was produced by My agent Fahad Ali @bookmanagement. The truth behind it was that the original model we had booked was @thechristinequinn, however Christine announced her pregnancy right after her trip to Bali in 2021, so my agent had to quickly find a replacement as everything was already in place.
“In a recent DM @chrishell.stause attacked me and discredited my work and bullied me. I’m not sure what medication she’s on but she clearly ‘forgot’ that I had styled her. @chrishell.stause, you talk about being authentic and here’s my truth babe! Stay in your lane and give credit where credit is due. @thechristinequinn wish the shoot went as planned so I wouldn’t have to deal with such unprofessionalism and ‘amnesia’.
“My agent who produced this shoot even paid for Chrishell’s studio and glam team and was also NEVER credited .This was one of Chrishell’s best shoots in 2021 and was published numerous times including in @Forbes magazine and @elle_magazine. @chrishell.stause – An apology would be appreciated!”
Sammie’s apology
After season eight of Selling Sunset was released this September, Sammie issued a public apology to Chrishell for the nasty comments he made that she spoke about on the show. He told People that he said those things “out of spite” and “I should have never said what I said on social media.”
He continued: “It’s affected my business, me being silent to the situation that happened prior as well too, and my livelihood and everything like that.
“And I would like to move on from this and be adults. We’re both members of the LGBTQ community. I’m a member, and she’s a member…”
Chrishell is yet to say anything about his apology, and it looks like she’ll probably stay radio silent. Really, who knew a property show could have this much drama!
