Kit Harington just said he’s ‘not gonna pretend’ he took Marvel role ‘because it was interesting’

He’s dropping savage takes left, right and centre

| UPDATED

Kit Harington has just savagely took the piss out of his role in the Eternals Marvel movie, just after he also dragged the end of Game of Thrones. That’s two major franchises we’re likely not going to see Kit Harington return to now, and whilst he’s on the subject of savage digs at former franchises he’s just thrown a load of shade in the way of Marvel after he slagged off his role in Eternal.

Kit Harington made his Marvel debut in their tried, tested and tedious habit of introducing new characters in the mid credit cameo scene. You know it, you used to love it, now you hate it. Kit Harington was cast by Marvel as Dane Whitman who made a cameo in Eternals before his tease as playing Black Night in the new Blade film. Blade is still upcoming but has been plagued by production issues and has had numerous production team changes. Mahershala Ali is still set to star.

Speaking in the GQ interview where Kit Harington spilled pretty much everything he had to spill, he made a savage little comment about his time with Marvel saying “I’m not gonna pretend I took that [role] because it was different and interesting. If Marvel calls, you gotta do it.”

Fair play. Harington also explained why he backed out of a proposed Game of Thrones spin-off centred on Jon Snow. “What I can tell you is it was HBO that came to me and said, ‘Would you consider this?’ My first reaction was no,” he told GQ. “And then I thought there could be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war. I felt that there might be something left to say and a story left to tell in a pretty limited way. We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn’t… nothing got us excited enough. In the end, I kind of backed out and said, ‘I think if we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want.’”
