Who is TikTok mukbang creator Jelly Bean Sweets and why are fans so concerned about her?

She initially became famous for her dancing videos

TikTok is full of mukbang creators, who eat large quantities of food over a short period of time, with user Jelly Bean Sweets being one of the most popular on the app.

However, she has gained a combination of backlash and concern from fans who are worried about the amount of weight Jelly Bean Sweets has gained in such a short amount of time. But who exactly is she, and how did her journey as a TikTok mukbang creator spiral out of control so quickly? Let’s find out.

Jelly Bean Sweets is the online name of 20 year old Jenna, a former dancer and college student. She has over 1.5 million followers on TikTok and over 100k on her Instagram, where she posts videos of her eating vast amounts of food in a very short time period. It seems she posted her first mukbang video in July 2023, one of her eating some takeout from Wingstop.

Before her mukbang videos, Jelly Bean Sweets used to be an avid dancer, and would frequently post videos of herself learning the choreography from Just Dance. One concern of fans is how in just one year her appearance has drastically changed as a result of her eating habits, and she’s also completely stopped making her dancing videos.

After mukbanger Pan Xiaoting died from eating 22 pounds on July 14, fans are worried about her health, commenting: “This makes me so sad.” Another added: “You don’t have to make money like this.”

Other fans are also concerned that some of her videos have gone from being mukbang related to feeder related. Whilst mukbang sometimes is related to ASMR, feeder content is described as a kink involving watching someone eat food in order to gain large quantities of weight.

In just one week she posted 26 separate mukbang videos and in all of them, she ate large amounts of junk food.

One user has even worked out how much she could be making on TikTok per year, commenting: “Guys, I did the math. If Jelly Bean Sweets makes 7 cents per 1,000 views and an average 2.1 million views, she’s only making $147 per video. That’s $158,000 a year that’s not including taxes, which would knock that down to $128,000 a year nor the money she spends on food daily, which would be around $30,000 a year so she’s only making $100,000 to ruin her health.”

There’s also a new trend inspired by the creator on TikTok where other users have been trying to eat and drink like her, causing what looks like pretty bad gas pains in the process. The amount of burps I would get if I drank a fizzy drink as quickly as she does through a straw would genuinely be lethal.
