Ranking The Boys characters by who definitely deserves to be killed off next

The Boys is a show that makes short work of characters in big gory deaths on the regular: It’s part of the thrill of watching and a major part of why we love it so much. But as the show approaches its big finale of season four and with confirmation that season five will be the final one, the tension is stacking on who is actually going to survive and who will die. And as a huge fan of the show, I have some strong feelings on who should live and who is on borrowed time. Here’s my ranking of all The Boys characters by who deserves to be killed off next.

16. Maeve

My queen has been through ENOUGH. The way I was sat weeping thinking we lost her at the end of series three. I can’t go through it again and I point blank refuse. She can never die. I actually need her to come back as a cameo diva in the finale or next season. And live.

15. Annie

Annie IS The Boys to me. As far as I’m concerned she’s the main character. She is the Buffy of The Boys and they must never dare kill her off.

14. Sister Sage

Great, GREAT new addition to the main cast for season four. Love her. So much potential with this character and I just really need her to come to her senses re her allegiances and become an ally for good. Really see that for her.

A really brilliant villain. This show is so great at villains. But unlike some of them, I don’t want her to die. I need a Victoria Neuman redemption arc and I think after the conversation she had with Hughie in the last episode and how shocked she looked about the internment camps I think her villain days are numbered.

12. MM

Not really one of The Boys characters I’m particularly passionate about, but if they killed him off I just don’t think it would have much impact. He’s an old reliable. Keep him around.

11. Kimiko

I feel like the show is treading water a bit with Kimiko and Frenchie’s storylines and like it doesn’t really know what to do with them. I’d like to see them back in the forefront for something that isn’t watching Splinter eat his own arse. I feel like we saw the steps of this happening in last week’s episode so, yeah – don’t bump them off yet.

10. Frenchie

Love Frenchie, but see above. Kimono stuff applies here. Also, The Boys has given him a half baked gay storyline that they’ve seemingly forgotten about. More of that please. He must live.

9. A-Train

This is a tough one because I can actually see the show killing off A-Train any day now. He’s had a redemption arc and is obviously the insider leaking info to the Boys from what the Seven are up to and Sage is clearly onto it. When Homelander inevitably finds out, he’s dead. I don’t really want him to be killed off but I can feel it brewing.

8. Homelander

Obviously, Homelander deserves to die and inevitably will die. The show will not end with its biggest villain alive – but Homelander can’t die til the last episode of the entire show because he is so vital to its brilliance and menace that it would be a travesty if he just got killed off now. Homelander IS The Boys.

7. Black Noir II

A hilarious character out of his depth. Bless him. Death looms.

6. The Deep

I need him obliterated for the ungodly behaviour he exhibited towards the angelic Ambrosius. It actually broke my heart. What a monstrous pig. Horrid.

5. Ryan

Okay it might be kind of heavy that I want the child being lead astray by his harrowing villainous biological father, but I just don’t like precocious children and he’s bringing me very little joy this season. Get him gone.

4. Ashley

I used to adore Ashley but the whole sexual deviant storyline has just knocked me sick and now I can’t look at her without feeling a bit ill. I just want her bumbling around being shit and stressed, not this harrowing dominatrix narrative. I’m done with her.

3. Hughie

Perhaps controversially. I just hate Hughie. The worst character on this show. Jack Quaid did some good work this season to be fair to him regarding the really sad storyline with his dad but what does he actually bring to the table? He’s a hindrance. Of all The Boys characters to be killed off it would be him that would bring me the most joy to see perish, I fear.

2. Firecracker

A perfect character to hate. But she’s served her purpose. I need Starlight to literally obliterate her and I will rejoice so thoroughly when it inevitably happens.

1. Butcher

Just get him gone. He’s dying anyway. I can’t tell you how much this show needs freeing from Billy Butcher’s annoying shackles. And Karl Urban’s appalling accent. His time has come. Death to Butcher.
